Filibuster Dual Cask Straight Bourbon Whiskey

It’s time to stop talking and start drinking.

Fillibuster Distillery started cranking out Whiskey in 2013 from their facility in Maurerville, Virginia — a small town in Shenandoah County. When we say "small town," we mean it. This hamlet about 90 miles West of Washington DC has a population of 770 souls. The company actually gets it’s name for the parliamentary maneuver of blocking a piece of legislation by talking so long that you run out the clock. Founder Sid Dilawri says, "Filibuster Whiskey is so good that you won’t stop talking about it." It gets "so good" via a process of craftsmanship and double cask aging — starting with traditional virgin oak casks and finishing in various imported Wine barrels.

The Filibuster Bourbon ages in those new casks for a between four and six years — as all Bourbons must. Finishing is between sixty and ninety days in French oak; red and white Wine barrels. And this tasty little Bourbon has some spice too with a mash bill that’s 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. Wine Enthusiast Magazine rated it 92 points, which is a solid win in this category. So talking about Filibuster Bourbon is fine, but drinking it will tell you everything you need to know.

Smartass Corner:
A filibuster maneuver is a parliamentary procedure where debate over the proposed legislation is extended so much it actually allows "to talk the proposed bill to death!"
